The Pensacola Chapter of MOAA is a member of the Florida Council of Chapters (FCOC) and the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) who together are the nation's largest and most influential association of military officers.  We are an independent, nonprofit, politically nonpartisan organization.

Membership

PMOAA membership is open to active duty, National Guard, Reserve, retired and former commissioned officers and warrant officers in the  United States uniformed services: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service,  and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Memberships are available for surviving spouses of deceased officers. PMOAA members are required to join national MOAA and may be eligible for a free one-year membership.  Free 1 year membership for active duty, National Guard and Reserve.

History

The Pensacola Chapter, The Retired Officers Association (PTROA) was established as the Pensacola ROA on 27 October 1970 and received its TROA Charter on October 29, 1970.  The Chapter was subsequently redesigned to the Pensacola Chapter (Inc.), The Retired Officers Association, pursuant to Article of Incorporation, recognized by Florida State Charter #754287 issued 23 September 1980.  Voluntarily affiliated with the national TROA organization, PTROA was identified as a non-profit veterans service organization (VSO) under IRS Section 501(c)(19).

The Chapter again changed its name to PMOAA effective January 2003 when TROA became Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).
